At Killorglin Community College, movement matters.
From team sports to outdoor adventure, we believe in the power of physical activity to build friendships, boost confidence, and enhance wellbeing.
Whether your young person is already a passionate athlete or trying something for the first time, they’ll find opportunities to thrive—both on and off the pitch.

Regular Competitive Sports
We offer league participation and friendly matches across a wide range of team sports, with training and coaching supports throughout the year.
Teams represent Killorglin Community College in:
  • Gaelic Football (Boys & Girls)
  • Rugby
  • Soccer (Boys & Girls)
  • Basketball (Boys & Girls)
Students from all year groups have opportunities to compete at various levels, supported by experienced staff and coaches.

Sport for Everyone – At Every Level
Our inclusive programme ensures there is something for every sporty student—no matter their ability or experience. We focus on participation, enjoyment, skill development, and team spirit.
Highlights include:
  • Athletics Meets (1st Year): Representing the school at Kerry ETB track and field events
  • Orienteering in 2nd Year: Integrated into the CBA as a blend of adventure and analytical thinking
  • Cappanalea Adventure Day (2nd Year): Kayaking, hiking, orienteering, and teamwork in Kerry’s outdoor education centre
  • Spikeball Blitz (3rd Year): Fast-paced volleyball-style event with Kerry ETB schools
  • Tennis Coaching (TY): Delivered by Tennis Ireland, with certificates awarded
  • Kayaking Levels 1 & 2 (TY): Building outdoor skills and water confidence
  • LGFA Training & Coaching: Girls can develop as players and leaders in Gaelic football

Special Sporting Events & Enrichment Activities
We also host seasonal events, fun competitions, and wellbeing initiatives that encourage students to stay active in creative and social ways. These might include:
  • Sports Days
  • Inter-House Competitions
  • Active Schools Weeks
  • Student v. Teacher Matches
  • Local & National Challenge Events
  • GAA Future Leaders Programme – developing leadership, organisation, and coaching skills through sport
  • Tackle Your Feelings Campaign – supporting positive mental wellbeing through an initiative led by Rugby Players Ireland
